This blog post today is going to be all about an eyeshadow product. I have had this in my collection for quite some years now and that is the Tarte x Aspyn Ovard Eyeshadow Palette. The first time that I saw this makeup palette, it was on a beauty YouTubers channel. They were using it for a classic bridal makeup look. At the time, I was going to do the makeup for my sister on her big day, so I decided that I would pick this up. I wanted to try it out and see if it was suitable to use it on the wedding day. Needless to say, the moment that I opened this Tarte palette, I knew that it was going to be a winner. That is why I am shat down talking to you guys about it today, So, here are my thoughts…
What is this palette made up of?
One of the main reasons why I fell in love with this palette when I first saw it on the Tarte website is because it was made up of more than just eyeshadows. In here, you get 9 great neutral eyeshadows, a pinky/peach blusher and a champagne tone highlighter. Again, for me who wanted to use this as part of a professional makeup kit, I thought that this was perfect because it would allow me to save room and not carry multiple items if the shades were suitable. Then, when I am just using this at home, it is a great item for a lazy gal like me that does not want to open a draw again and find another item to use. I will say that I love the blusher and could leave the highlighter, but that is my personal preference.
What shades do I use the most?
So, the shades in this palette that I use the most has to be ‘Tea Time’, which is a wonderful mid-tone shade for my skin tone. Depending on the amount of sleep that I have had, I will then go in with ‘Santorini Sands’, which is a wonderful light neutral shade and because that is a few shades lighter than my skin, I feel like it really helps to open and widen the eyes, which helps me to look more awake. The centre shade, ‘Heart of Gold’ is a great lid topper for the days where I feel like I want to add a little sparkle to my looks. Then for days where I need to add a little depth, I love to use ‘Road Trip’ and ‘Wanderlust’.
What is the pigmentation levels?
In this day and age, we are all used to seeing the big YouTubers swatching their palettes on their arm and getting off an insane amount of pigment. Even though we need our products to have pigment. I don’t always want the items with the highest amount of pay off as this can make the products harder to work with. At times it can make them quite chalky (prime example of this was the Anastasia Subculture scandal a couple of years back). I would say that this Tarte x Aspyn Ovard Eyeshadow Palette has enough pigmentation to effectively be able to use the palette and all of the shades within. Without the additional struggle of trying to work to a true artistry standard. For me, this is just a super easy palette to use. I think that each of the shades has a decent amount of pay off.
How do I find they blend?
Over the years, I have tried many different eyeshadow palettes. I have come to learn that it is not just about how pigmented the shades themselves are. It is more about how they work together. How they apply on the lid and how the blend with one another. After having this palette for a long time, I can safely say that I have used every single shade in this palette. I do think that I have put them through their paces. Each and every single one of the shades works well together. Blends in with one another and never looks patchy. These are really big things, that even some of the really huge beauty brands do not keep consistent with.
Would I recommend this?
Again, going to be diplomatic here. I would recommend this palette, depending on what you are going to be using it for. For me, this palette was a beautiful addition to my kit when I was the head makeup artist at my sister’s wedding. It really does have a great range of shades. You know that you are going to have something to suit everybody up to a medium skin tone. I now use this on a daily basis when I am heading into work. It has a great range of neutral shades. They all blend in well and fuse together seamlessly. As mentioned, I also really love the shade of the blusher. It is just a shame for me that I don’t reach for it more. I do think that this is a great item though and if you are starting out and using more shadow.
Conclusion
I hope that you guys liked this review. Leaning a little more about this Tarte x Aspyn Ovard Eyeshadow Palette. I have just checked the Tarte website and I cannot see this on their site at the moment. But I did buy another as a spare at Christmas time. That was not the first time that I have seen them re-add this to their website. I think overall, this palette is just a testament to the brand as a whole and the eyeshadow palettes. I know that this has without a doubt tempted me into picking up some more items by the brand. Honestly, I think that the thing to remember with this palette is that if you are wanting to create a work of art with your makeup. There are other palettes out there that are more suitable.
