I think that I have mentioned it before, but in my full-time
job I work in sales and marketing. The marketing side of the job that I currently
do is focused mainly on websites and SEO, so I thought that for today’s blog
post I would sit down and let you know some of the ways that you can get more
blog views. Obviously, most of us do not have out blog for getting in thousands
of page views a day, but it certainly helps you as an indicator of what is
working on your site and what people are coming back for. Websites and SEO
really are a subject that I could really go on about forever and a day, but I will
try to keep this short and concise with the key elements that should help you
to see a boost in your traffic.
Use Social Media
I know that when it comes to social media, I should
really practice what I preach because I do not use my social media outlets to
push my blog posts at all, but I should. It is just a great tool for allowing more
people to see your site and to know what you are about. There is also a great
bank of keywords and hashtags that you can use in your posts to help people
really see more of you to ensure that you get the leg up to encourage people to
come and see what you are writing about!
Use Keywords and Think About SEO
SEO is something that I could talk about for 9000 years,
but I will keep this short. Ensure that you are using good and strong keywords
throughout all of your posts. If you are writing about the Laura Mercier
Translucent Powder, make sure that you are using that consistently throughout
your post and different variations. You can use a keyword, or a phrase too
frequently, so just be sure that you are not doing it. Make sure that the file
name for all of the images used on your site are labelled as this and be sure
to pop them in everywhere. By doing this, it means that the next time Jo Bloggs
sits down and Googles the term ‘Loose setting powder’ there is a chance that
your post will appear because Google has seen those keywords on your site!
Engage with Others
One of the best and easiest ways to get people onto your
blog or website is by engaging with other people and ensuring that people know
where to find your site. For me, I make sure to spend some time each week going
through some of my favourite sites and reading their content and commenting. It
is just a nice and friendly thing to do because it supports others in the same
community as yourself, but it can also help to direct some of their traffic
back to your blog if you leave a link alongside your comment.
Be Consistent
In order to capture your audience and ensure that they are
coming back, you need to check that you are been consistent with what you are
posting. I have always found that the best thing to do is create a posting
schedule and briefly map out what I would like to post on them days. That way I
have a little structure to what I am doing, and I know that I will keep
consistent, it just helps me to write. Not only will your readers enjoy the consistency,
search engines will also consider this to be a positive and it will be yet
another tick for you when it comes to their ranking systems.
Ensure That Your Site Is User Friendly
The last thing that I want to mention in this post has
to be the whether the website is user friendly or not. Search engines literally
look into everything when it comes to your site, including the loading speeds
of each screen, how much the user clicks to find what they are looking for, can
their bots easily scan your page and so much more. It is reasons why this why I
opt for a simple and minimal layout. People can navigate it very simply; the
likes of Google can scan it with ease, and it is very user friendly. Obviously,
a lot of this comes down to an individual taste and what they want from their own
site, but usability has to be something that you really think about in the
forefront of your mind. If you want to see a boost, it is a thing to consider.
I hope that you guys found this blog post interesting and if you are looking at boosting your figures a little that some of these changes can positively help you out. Whenever I am speaking with anybody about boosting their site and getting more page views, these are the starting points that I begin with. They are simple changes that can be made, but they can have a vast impact. I may do another post in a couple of weeks really drilling into these and opening them up a little so that you can see how the changes that you are making actually work and what they do behind that scenes that you probably don’t realise. Anyway, make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know some of the changes that you have made to get more blog views!
