It is time for another beauty post here on my blog and
this time it is all about the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. I
can remember when I first saw this preview on Instagram and as much as I wanted
it, there was some misconception about what this product actually was and that
was why I gave it a pretty wide berth for the first few months after the launch.
People weren’t sure if this was a foundation with a terrible shade range, a highlighter
with a half decent shade range or a primer and then the shades were even more
confusing. After seeing people using it and loving it on YouTube, I decided
that I would get my hands on it and give it a whirl for myself, it is safe to
say that this quickly became one of my favourite makeup items from my
collection.
The first thing that I really want to talk about, and it
is the first thing that I talk about in all of my reviews and that is the
packaging. I think that when it comes to a Charlotte Tilbury product, you know
that you are not going to be disappointed when it comes to the quality of the
packaging. This fits in with the whole 1920s aesthetic which the brand has
going on and it think that it just gives it a really special touch and you feel
like whenever you are reaching for it that you are using something super
luxurious. I will say that the glass bottle is not always practical and last
year I did drop one from my counter top onto my wooden floor and it smashed in
two and my entire bottle was wasted, but I get that it is better from an
aesthetic point of view.
Next up, I feel like I should mention what this product is
and how it can be used. For me, this is a product that I use in order to give
me glowing skin. I use it before I go in with my foundation to ensure that my
foundation is glowing and looks super healthy on the skin, but I would not say
that it is a primer, because it does nothing really to prep my skin for makeup
application. I also have friends that use this on top of their foundation in
order to add more light to the skin, but because I am oily and I need to powder
my skin very well, I don’t find that applying it afterwards does me much good.
That being said, I think that this has been a game changer for me and my makeup
applying it before my foundation.
There are 5 shades in this Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood
Flawless Filter, and I use shade number 3 which is the perfect shade to
highlight and bring light to my medium complexion. I would say that shade 3 is
slightly deeper than my face because I exfoliate so often, but it is a great
colour match for my body. Because this lovely shade does help to balance out the
difference between my face and my body, it is great for using on the days when I
want to add a little something to my skin, but I don’t really want to go in
with my normal full coverage foundation and I find that when used alone, the
glow is not super obvious and it does not make me look like a dazzling disco
ball.
I guess that the last thing that I want to mention is
the difference between this Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and the
Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow, because I have seen quite a few people asking
this on the internet. I will admit that in a morning when I am getting ready to
head on our for the day, I use both of these items. I use Wonderglow as a
primer and yes it does have reflecting pigments in, but it really hydrates my
skin and I think that it is wonderful for makeup prep. On top of that I will
then go in with the Hollywood Filter because this is what really brings the glow
to the skin and gives me a super healthy flush and some colour. Is it necessary
to wear both? Probably not. Will I continue to use both day to day? Absolutely.
There you have it, my thoughts on the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood
Flawless Filter. I really do think that this product is worth the money and I never
have any doubt in my head to go ahead and purchase another when I am running
low. As always, I will pop a link to this item down below in case you would
like to check it our for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me
know if you have tried this product and what you thought about it.
