My skincare routine is something that shamefully
I have only been doing for around the past 6 months. Up until that point I was
simply running a baby wipe around my face at the end of the day and that was
about it. If I was feeling a little fancy, I may have gone around my face with
some micellar water on a cotton pad, but that would only be on special
occasions. It wasn’t until I turned 25, realised that I was halfway to 50 and
that it was about time that I start looking after my skin so that I don’t turn to
injectables by the age of 30 because I have been neglecting my skin for far too
long, given the amount of makeup that I wear on a daily basis.
I did hell of a lot of research and spent more money than I care to mention on building a skincare routine that would not only help my skin as it is, but help to combat and tackle some of the issues that I felt like I had with my skin and what I wanted to change. I am quite an oily person, but I can be prone to the odd dry patch on my skin so I wanted something that would help with both issues. I also have quite large pores around my nose and dark pigmentation damage on my cheeks from years of abusing the sun and I wanted some products that could potentially help with those issues. So, I thought that I would share with you my skincare routine and some of the steps that I am taking and products that I am using…
First Cleanse Using a Wipe
I wish that I could fully stop using baby wipes,
but I just think that they are great for removing the bulk of my makeup and not
getting too messy with the makeup removed. I use the Simple Biodegradable wipes
and I think that they are just great. It just takes of all of that top layer and
I think it helps when it comes to the second cleanse.
Second Cleanse Using Clinique Cleansing Balm
Once that top layer of makeup has gone from my
skin I like to go in with my old favourite the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm.
I take the smallest amount of this and really begin to work it into every
single inch of my skin. You can see in an instant all of the makeup that this
lifts from my skin and it makes me feel sick t think that I would have normally
stopped at the Simple wipe step. I then rinse it off using a damp warm flannel.
Third Cleanse Using Micellar Water
The last step that I do in order to cleanse my
skin without stripping it too much is by going in with Micellar water. I just
take some of the Garneir Micellar Water on a cotton pad and I lightly go over
my skin. It is so shocking that even at this stage I will still be getting makeup
off my skin and out of my pores. Even on my lazier days, this is a step that I simply
cannot be without!
Apply Toner Using My Ole Hendriksen Dark Spot Toner
At this moment in time,
I am yet to find out if toner actually does anything for my skin, but I feel
like I will persevere with this until I can 100% say if it is making a difference
or not. I bought this after seeing Jamie Genevieve and Desi Perkins using it
and if it is good enough for them, it is good enough for me. I just apply a small
amount of this to a cotton round and then press it into my skin where I have
enlarged pores and darker spots.
Moisturise with Summer Fridays Jet Leg Mask
The only moisturiser
that I have been using for a couple of months now is the Summer Fridays Jet Leg
Mask. Since I have been using this, I have found that the dry patches that I once
had on my skin have completely gone and the dark areas on my cheeks also seem
to be disappearing slowly but surely. I love that this makes my skin feel baby
smooth and 100% hydrated.
Apply Eye Cream Using Ole Hendriksen Banana Eye Bright Cream
The eye cream that I have been using forever and
a day at this stage is the Ole Hendriksen Banana Eye Bright Cream. I feel like
this is one of the only eye creams that I have ever used that actually does
make a difference to the overall appearance of my dark bags. I take just a
small amount on my ring finger, pat it in underneath my eyes and then take the
remainder and apply that to the fine lines around my nose and lips.
Face Tanner Using Tan Luxe Face Oil
To top off the products on my face, I then like
to go in with my Tax Luxe Facial Oil. Sometimes I mix this in with my
moisturiser, but when I want a really deep natural looking tan on my face I will
take just a couple of drops of these on my normal fake tanning mitt and then gently
pat this into my face. This helps to apply the product but it keeps my
moisturiser in place.
Neck Cream Using Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
I really feel like I am still only dipping my toe into the world of skincare and there is hell of a lot more that I want to get my hands on and try out for myself. The difference that I have seen in my skin in the past 6 months lone is just absolutely incredibly. I feel like my skin looks like it did 5 years ago, and I put that down to the fact that my skin is well hydrated and incredibly supple. I cannot wait to see what else I can do and get out of my skincare routine. I would love it if you guys left some of your tips, tricks and favourite products down below so that I can try them out for myself and potentially get my hands on some new items!
